You get a court filing as a PDF. You need it in Word to reuse the language. So you run it through Acrobat — and the 1 through 28 line numbers come through as text, wedged into every paragraph. The vertical rules turn into garbage characters.
Then you spend the next thirty minutes deleting digits line by line. Or you white out the numbers with Redact, re-OCR, and convert again. Or you retype the whole thing. Adobe has not fixed this in four years.
